During a health check carried out by Capital Health, I was advised that I had one leg leg shorter than the other, and that I should see a physiotherapist to get a measurement made. Unknown to Capital Health was that I was already going to a physio due to back problems and severe sciatica, and the physio had not detected any difference in leg length. When measured by the physio, one leg was 15mm shorter than the other.
After getting an shoe insert made for the short leg and regularly doing the prescribed exercises, the back problems and sciatica have settled. Well spotted by Capital Health.

"I would recommend it to others because these few quick tests could lead to bigger issues.  If the worst thing is a referral to a GP, I think it is worthwhile.  The downside is that I would not rely on them to give me a total picture of my health."

"I considered [the tests] very useful. I already had a good idea about my blood pressure, and I’m reasonably fit, but it was good to check on those things that are less obvious, like cholesterol (I was prepared for bad news) and blood glucose. An excellent preventative health tool"

" Yes, I would recommend it to all especially for staff who may be concerned about their health, weight, lifestyle etc."

" Yes, I was very happy, I was not treated like an overweight person or put down or treated badly in any way and I appreciated that from a health professional."

"I thought it was definitely a worthwhile exercise – and definitely for the older [patients] (i.e. me) It provides a good comparison to what treating doctors may be saying and earlier health checks (showing improvement/deterioration over the years).  I think it is also important for the younger generation: it may bring to their attention a problem that they may be unaware of because generally they might attend medical practitioners less.  I think it is a great idea."

"I found it helpful because it alleviated concerns I had, particularly relating to diabetes. "

"Absolutely, I would certainly recommend it to others, however I also feel that the people who probably need the advice and possible "wake-up call" are probably the ones who will not attend. The session not only gives you an update of your overall health, but a chance to ask general health questions that you probably wouldn't make a trip to the doctor to ask. E.g. suggestions about low GI foods, cholesterol lowering foods etc."
